About Breast Cancer

Imaging Before Surgical Consultation

We want to ensure that your visit to the Jean McLaughlin Women’s Center is completed as smoothly as possible. This guide will help you gather the necessary information needed prior to your clinic appointment. If your breast imaging was performed at Jean McLaughlin Women’s Center, our staff will review your reports and help determine if additional imaging or biopsies are required. The need for additional imaging may not be clear until after you see your surgeon in consultation.
If any of your breast imaging and or breast biopsy was done at a facility other than Jean McLaughlin Women’s Center it will need to be submitted to our physicians for their review. Below is a checklist of what needs to be submitted:
  • All Breast Imaging studies and associated reports from the facility of your most recent mammogram for both right and left breasts and any additional films of the past 5 years – This includes mammograms, ultrasounds, and breast MRIs.
Please note: If your annual breast imaging studies of the past five years were performed at different facilities, you will need to submit films from each of these facilities.
  • All Breast Biopsy and Breast Surgery Pathology Slides and associated reports of your recent biopsy or previous cancer
Record Release Form (This can be obtained from the same facility as your films. It is needed in the event we need to contact the submitting facility for additional information related to your previous Imaging or Pathology studies.)
To obtain the above Imaging studies and reports call the Film Library or Film File Room of the facility at which your studies were performed. To obtain your pathology slides and reports call the pathology department of the facility at which your biopsy or surgery was performed. You may submit the above items in person at the front desk of the Jean McLaughlin Women’s center. M-F between 8:00am - 5:00pm or mail them via FedEx at:
Breast Imaging Department
Jean McLaughlin Women’s Center for Health and Healing
15611 Pomerado Road 1st floor Suite 106

To ensure the timely arrival of your films, we strongly encourage you to use an overnight service such as FedEx or UPS.
To ensure timely interpretation of your films, they must arrive to the Breast Center 1 week prior to your appointment date.
Once your films and slides have arrived at our facility our physicians will conduct a review and will work with your surgeon to determine the need for imaging (mammogram, ultrasound and/or breast MRI.) If additional imaging studies are recommended, the Breast Center staff will help coordinate this scheduling.
